4 Pleasant Street: A RetrospectIve | 2017 - 2018
4 Pleasant Street: A Retrospective is the first full-scale retrospective of the artist Vanessa Platacis in 10 years. Co-organized by the Cambridge Arts Council and curator Geoff Hargadon, this 16' x 40' installation brings together dozens of her most definitive paintings and reassesses her enduring legacy.
This retrospective showcases the paintings that have exhibited internationally as part of her largest body of work under the pseudonym PIXNIT. Other noteworthy highlights include the iconic floral element that is seen repeatedly throughout her work.
The artist's expansive practice is represented by dozens of her signature hand drawn and cut stencils. In 4 Pleasant Street she has unified years of paintings with a monochromatic color palette that also honors the location and historic brick work of the architecture. Bringing together multi-cultural patterns in one unified composition that reflects her contribution to the history of street art, painting and performance in Boston.
Currently on view at 4 Pleasant Street, Cambridge MA.
